YDU Hosts Winter Break Play Day
YDU was excited to host its first Winter Break Play Day at FiDonce Player Development, following the model of our successful summer camp. Despite the chilly weather outside, the gym was full of fun, learning, and plenty of activity.
The event kicked off with a pizza lunch provided at cost by Just Pizza, along with fruit, snacks, and plenty of water, thanks to a generous grant from the Wawa Foundation. The kids spent the day playing soccer and basketball, with one of the highlights being an educational session led by former Widener University Professor Nadine Henry and current professor Dr. Steve Madigosky. Dr. Madigosky captivated the kids with his giant stick bugs, while Professor Nadine introduced them to her turtle, Squirt! The kids learned about adaptations and how animals survive in the wild. A big thank you to both Professor Nadine and Dr. Madigosky for sharing their knowledge and time.
We’d also like to extend our gratitude to the Wawa Foundation for their generous donation of water bottles for the event, Coach Chris Shavers for his help, and Coach Eric for once again allowing us to use his space.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and keep an eye out for our upcoming events so you don’t miss out on future opportunities like this!
