Tennis Clinic Helps Connect Communities

On Saturday, dozens of Chester children received free tennis equipment and learned all about the sport in the latest partnership between Youth Development United and Sow Good Now.

Sow Good Now, based in Newtown Square, pairs high school and college athletes with children from under-served communities in order to “share time, talents, treasures, and ties through sports.”

The relationship between the two organizations kicked off in February 2024, when Sow Good Now facilitated a karate lesson for the children of Youth Development United, and continued in May 2024 with a swim lesson and June 2024 with a football clinic.

It is the intention of the two organizations to continue offering children increased access to activities that support their physical and mental well-being, and to introduce them to mentors from other communities. The benefits of the interactions are great for all involved.

Volunteers for this clinic came from the Radley Run Country Club.

One of the tennis coaches, Aidan, commented:

"Participating in the tennis GiveBack event was truly rewarding for me. Spending most of the day with Khasir and Payton, who were relatively new to tennis, was a highlight. It was incredible to witness their progress as we worked through different drills together. By the end of the day, their enthusiasm and skills had noticeably improved, which was both inspiring and fulfilling to see. I sincerely hope that Khasir and Payton continue to embrace tennis and that our time together sparks a lasting passion for the sport in their lives."
