Scout Troop Donates Time and Snacks

The Bear Den from Cub Scout Pack 240 in Springfield, led by Susan Yoder, helped support Youth Development United at this month’s mini golf / dinner outing for families who qualify for free and reduced school lunch because of their economic status.

The Scouts presented healthy snacks for donation to participants, learned about how the non-profit helps children from under-served communities gain access to healthy, active choices, and built care packages for attending families to bring home to supplement their weekend groceries. Funds for such care packages are supported by a grant from the Delaware County Interactive Gaming Revenue Authority and other generous parties.

This event helped the Springfield Cub Scouts earn their Paws for Action belt loop, which teaches about citizenship.

Not only did the Scout families provide generously to Youth Development United participants, but they interacted socially with them as well, enjoying an evening of mini golf together.

YDU welcomes partnerships with other scout troops and groups. Please click here to learn more about organizing a snack drive or a sock drive, or facilitating other simple but generous initiatives that make a difference for the children of Youth Development United.
