Lacrosse Clinic Engages Youth

On Saturday, over 50 people from Eddystone and Chester attended a lacrosse clinic where they received expert coaching and mentoring, building confidence and teamwork through the fundamentals of the game.

This event was the latest collaboration between Sow Good Now and Youth Development United, organizations dedicated to inspiring communities through sports. Like past successes, including this summer’s tennis clinic, this lacrosse event was both fun and impactful.

Sow Good Now, founded in 2018, aims to grow philanthropic athletes by teaching community engagement through their GiveBack model. Sow Good Now coordinated with volunteers from Mesa Lacrosse to work with the participants, guiding them through drills and sharing personal stories of growth and resilience.

Sow Good Now generously provided participants with free transportation as well as a healthy lunch. The meal reinforced the importance of nutrition alongside physical activity, and gave the opportunity for further bonding between the groups.

Every child left with their own lacrosse stick, excited to continue practicing their new skills.

Youth Development United Site Director Crystal Brooks chaperoned the event, and was very impressed with the experience. As a teacher at Eddystone Elementary, she has seen the continuation of lacrosse drills at recess in the days following the event.

“About a dozen kids have been proudly bringing their new lacrosse sticks to school every day, eagerly practicing their new sport. They were so happy to have this clinic. Hopefully we can coordinate more exposure to lacrosse for them in the future.”
