Physical Therapy Career Day wraps up Spring Career exploration!
Saturday, March 22, proved to be a beautiful day, allowing us to move many of the career day activities outdoors to take advantage of the weather.
The day began with some soccer and cornhole outside while families arrived, giving kids a chance to run off their energy before the afternoon of learning.
We started the day off by welcoming Sybilla Moore from DAP (Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County), where the children learned about healthy relationships and how to set and maintain meaningful boundaries. The children engaged in thoughtful conversation and showed a new understanding of the importance of boundaries in relationships of all types. A special thank you to Sybilla for sharing her expertise and time with the Chester community.
After a healthy and plentiful snack of fruit and granola bars, the children gathered to learn about Physical Therapy from First Year Widener PT students, who brought some of the tools they use to measure patients’ abilities. They played a fun “Simon Says” game where the children learned about different muscles and stretches with a bit of healthy competition. Finally, the kids wrapped up learning with a fun obstacle course, displaying the use of different PT tools and strategies. Thank you to the Widener PT students for your time and organization.
Afterward, the children returned outside to enjoy the afternoon before dinner. They played more soccer, created “gardens,” and engaged in a competitive game of red light, green light!
The wonderful day ended with a delicious dinner in the Widener Dining Hall. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the successful day! This wraps up our spring career days. You can read about the other ones here!
