One Equipment Donation Inspires Another

Have you ever come upon a good idea and thought, “I should do that too!”

We sure are glad that Wallingford resident Caity Kennedy kicked into that gear (pun intended!) when she learned about Steel United’s recent donation of soccer socks.

Caity has been a much-appreciated supporter of our program since the spring of 2022 when she and her family donated cleats, ran a snack drive and inspired our monthly bowling parties.

When Caity realized this fall that soccer socks would be a welcome donation for the children in our Soccer for Success program, she rallied a group of soccer-loving families to contribute funds, and shipped packages to our Site Directors Jody Zamonski at Stetser Elementary School and Nichola Thompson at Edgmont Scholars Academy for distribution to our players there. Both schools are part of the Chester Upland School District, which has graciously presented our organization with its Community Partnership Award each of the past two years.

The Site Directorrs and students were thrilled to receive the donation. “Everyone was happy to contribute,” Caity reported in reference to the donors. A definite win-win for all!

Now, might another generous soul be inspired to keep this philanthropic chain going? If so, please click here to learn how to help support the children of our program.
