Make an alka-seltzer powered lava lamp:

Ingredients:

1 empty 1-Liter clear plastic bottle

Water

Food coloring

vegetable oil

alka-seltzer tablet

Fill bottle with 1-2 inches of water, add 5 drops of food coloring, and then fill it at least 3/4 full with vegetable oil. Cut the alka seltzer tablets into quarters, and then drop them one at a time to see the chemistry at work.


Lemon Volcano:

Ingredients:

1/2 lemon

baking soda

food coloring

Cut lemon in 1/2, and face it skin side down. put 3-4 drops of food coloring on the lemon, and then start adding the baking soda (start with a tablespoon). take a fork or knife and push the baking soda into the lemon until the fizzing starts to happen. you can add more baking soda as needed


Milk experiment
Have a shallow plate and add some milk

add 4-5 drops of different food coloring in separate areas

put a drop of soap on a q-tip and touch the food coloring and watch it swirl! Keep adding soap and touching at different places


Skittles/M&M experiment

Put a small amount of warm water on a plate. Put 4 different colored skittles apart on the plate, and sprinkle more warm water on top. Watch the food dye come off!

Put the M&M's on a filter paper (coffee filter) and sprinkle with warm water until the food dye comes off onto the filter paper. Be sure to use a brown M&M as they are made of different food coloring


Dancing Raisins

Ingredients:

Baking soda

vinegar

water

cup

1/2 cut raisins


Mix 1 tablespoon in half-filled cup of water

add raisins (About 6-8 that are cut in half)

then add vinegar to fill the cup, and watch the raisins dance and bubble!
