Chester’s Mentoring Initiative

Isabella Andreozzi from the Philadelphia Regional Center for Children's Environmental Health discussed the Chester Community Asthma Prevention Program, which aims to reduce asthma triggers and improve asthma management in children. The program, founded in 1997 by Dr. Tyra Bryant Stevens, targets low-income minority children, with one in four in West Philadelphia having asthma. The program offers four home visits, environmental assessments, and education on asthma management. They also provide resources like HEPA filters, pest control, and asthma action plans. Isabella emphasized the importance of reducing environmental triggers and collaborating with schools and other agencies to improve health outcomes. Some tips include:
